That’s what went wrong with the Rajkumar Santoshi’s cult classic Andaz Apna Apna. Amar and Prem—played by Aamir Khan and Salman Khan—are two day dreamers who compete each other for getting rich by marrying daughter of rich businessman Ram Gopal Bajaj played by Paresh Rawal. Story of the film takes audience on the journey of comical confusions of characters and situations. Though the film did average business, film received four nomination at Filmfare Awards in 1995. With time film gained massive cult following and become the most watched film on India television circuit. Aamir khan and Salman khan, though they have huge list of achievements, are still loved for their portrayal of the characters Amar and Prem.
5. Drama – Mother India (1957)

Though it’s an over exaggerated melodrama, strength of an Indian film is in its drama. Be a commercial film or an art film, melodrama is hallmark of Indian cinema. With time, some changes have come but its India, old things never go out of fashion in India and majority of Indian cinema still strive on over exaggerated melodrama. However, whatever may be the case with melodrama in Indian cinema, Mother India is highly rated classic. Oscar nominated film was directed and produced by Mehboob Khan. It was remake of khan’s seventeen-year-old film Aurat (1940). It is the story of women’s struggle for raising her two sons post her husband’s death in a natural calamity. Character Radha is played by Nargis who stands for the high moral values of women in India. It was India’s first official entry for Academy Awards but it lost the Oscar by a vote. Nargis and director bagged the prestigious Filmfare Awards for Best Actress and Best director respectively. Film is also listed in “1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die”.
6. Horror – Raat (Night), 1992

Indian cinema has produced good amount of horror flicks but most of them has Bollywood style of storytelling spiced up with songs and melodrama that somehow diminished the essence of horror. Few directors risked their careers by making unconventional films. One of those directors is Ram Gopal Verma who is considered a weird genius. His horror film Raat is far away from conventional Bollywood flick. Film was original made in south Indian language Telgu but later dubbed in Hindi for rest of India. South Indian film actor Revathi plays Manisha Sharma aka Mini who is possessed by a ghost from her basement. A woman who was the previous owner of the house was murdered brutally in the basement and since than her ghost haunts the residents of the house.
7. Romance – Dilwale Dulhania Le jayenge (Brave hearted gets the bride), 1995

Song, also beat the Indians mutter that romantic love movies, drama, singing, and when it comes to dancing. It is master of Indian cinema. Bride Dilwale take Jayenge (Link 4) or romantic films, DDLJ was the first film for director Aditya Chopra as the owner of Ravel. The story is about a young couple played by Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol-Raj and Simran who falls in love on a European vacation which respectively. Raj to marry Simran, they must win their daughter more parents want to marry someone of their choice, which Simran. The film became a blockbuster of all time and the biggest Bollywood hit ever. During awards season in 1996, the most ever won 10 Filmfare Awards, a film. Film "won first place in only the second film to do so since Mother India" the 1001 film that you watch you die. In the history of Indian cinema film Crossing the record for the longest-running film weeks in 1000 Maratha Mandir theater.
8. Science fiction – Mr. India, 1987

The Indian film industry is not well for home science fiction films. In the past decade, some movies with special effects created buzz with films like Krissh and Ra One. However, due to the success of these films, the heavy-duty action and special effects, but received criticism for saying his story. When it comes to classic Indian sci-fi movie, Mr. Nothing beats India. Mesmerizing film is directed by Shekhar Kapur and adakary- Sridevi, Anil Kapoor and ever energetic Indian cinema was super villain Amrish Puri. Anil Kapoor is located in an old rented house a dozen orphans, street plays violin. He finds a watch that makes the wearer invisible and story gets interesting when people watch magic to fight against evil man played by Amrish Puri, Mogambo. The film is considered a cult classic and has gained a place in the top 100 films of all time. Amrish Puri famous dialogue "Mogambo khus air" (Magambo happy) became synonymous with Amrish.
9. Thriller – Baazigar (Gambler), 1993

The Indian film industry produces great thriller movies but somehow never explored a lot of style. Some great classic third floor (Thrid Floor), who was (he was), Madhumati, C.I.D and were in the 50s and 60s very much. Baazigar, a crime thriller pair adoption of a kiss from Hollywood Directed by Abbas-Mustan, Die (1956). Shah Rukh Khan, the ultimate breakthrough role avenge his father's death by killing and destroying lives Ajay Sharma in the film. 10. War – Border, 1997

Indian cinema's filmmakers, especially with hundred years of history, has made little significant combat films and also won at the box office, suggested do not like war.
